Alcalá de Henares
The city of Alcalá de Henares, located some 30 kilometres from the centre of Madrid, is known for its University and for being the birthplace of Cervantes. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has christened it "The City of Knowledge".
It has an enormous cultural legacy, but also an enormous gastronomic legacy, as there is a wide range of restaurants and bars. So after spending the day getting to know its history, you can recharge your batteries by eating well! Its size and its proximity to Madrid make it the perfect city for a day trip to discover a different part of Madrid.
To get to Alcalá de Henares, just take the A2 road from the city centre.
Warner Amusement Park
The little ones (and the not so little ones) have the time of their lives at amusement parks. But what if we also add their favourite characters? Attractions, food stalls, activities with Bugs Bunny or Tweety Bird, games... Fun is guaranteed for the whole family... Get your camera ready, because you'll want to show all your friends the photos you'll take with all the characters.
Warner Park is an ideal place to spend the day with the family, and getting there by car is very easy. Just follow the signs on the A4 road, and you'll be there in no time.
Chinchón
If you are in Madrid and you have time, you cannot miss the village of Chinchón. Hire your car in Madrid and you will be there in just 45 minutes. Chinchón is about 60 kilometres from the capital and to get there you have to take the E-901/A-3 (signs for Arganda/Valencia). Take exit 21 towards M-832/Morata/Chinchón.

Rascafría
Rascafría has a privileged location in the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the Valle Alto del Lozoya. Among the highlights of this beautiful village is the Carthusian monastery of Santa María de El Paular, the first Carthusian monastery in Castile, where a small community of monks still live and can be visited.
Without a doubt, visiting Rascafría means spending a day of tourism in the open air enjoying the beauty of nature. With your hire car you can drive around the valley and enjoy the incredible views of the road. In fact there are many routes known as "Rutas Verdes" (Green Routes).
To get to Rascafría by car from Madrid, take the A-1 road towards Burgos. On this road take exit 69 towards the M-604 in the direction of Rascafría/Lozoya. The total length of the journey is about 97 kilometres and takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes.
El Escorial
Its quick and easy connection with Madrid has made it a popular destination for both national and international tourists. It is an ideal place to visit with your hire car if you are in Madrid.
To get from Madrid to El Escorial you have to take the A-6 road towards A Coruña. Take exit 18 towards Las Rozas/ El Escorial and continue on the road to El Escorial M-505. In approximately 50 minutes you will have arrived from Madrid.
Of course, apart from the incredible Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial, you have other tourist attractions such as the Abbey of the Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos, the Casa de la Compaña or the Casita del Príncipe.
